Gigi Hadid on Her Public Life: ‘It’s Funny to Find Out Online That You’re Going Through a Breakup’

Gigi Hadid may have over 25 million followers on Instagram, but the social media superstar is still surprised by all the Internet attention. And she’s managed to rise above some of the more upsetting online rumors.

“I think it’s always funny to find out online that you’re going through a breakup or something crazy’s happening in your life,” she shares with PeopleStyle in our 5 Questions video series above. “It’s just funny that it comes out of nowhere a lot of the time, but it’s always entertaining. There’s something every day honestly that’s pretty entertaining.”

Gigi Hadid on Her Risky Red Carpet Style: I Want People to ‘Love or Hate It’

To set the record straight: Hadid is still very much together with Zayn Malik, and she can’t wait to support him at this year’s American Music Awards, which she’ll be co-hosting with Jay Pharoah.

When asked about “that dude” who is up for new artist of the year, she coyly responded, “I heard about that dude! Handsome! Zayn, right? Yeah, he’s cute,” adding that Malik’s debut solo album Mind of Mine is her favorite of the year.

And while we’re hoping for a cute red carpet cameo from ZiGi, we’re also tuning in to Sunday’s show for Hadid’s parade of outfit changes. The model is working closely with her stylist Monica Rose, and says the first thing she asked her was: “How long is it going to take for us to have a fitting of about 50 thousand looks?”

“She’s just such a boss and a pro that I feel like I can give her two days and she’d be able to do it,” Hadid adds of her stylist. “Just trying to get the timing right and the scheduling right is usually the hardest part.”

When choosing outfit for the awards show, the model says she gravitates towards “what makes me really excited to put on, what I think is different and cool.”

And don’t expect Hadid to dress for a theme — she plans on mixing it up.

“I want it to be really eclectic and fun and kind of surprise people and be colorful and have cool textures,” she says of her AMAs wardrobe. “Just whatever I think will kind of excite people. That’s what the fun part of being a host is. I’m not gonna force like a certain amount of outfits, but I think that just bringing out as many outfits that make me really excited as possible.”
