Get a Look Inside DJ AM's Post-Plane Crash Toil in 'As I Am'

In the '00s, Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, was one of the most sought-after DJs in the country, the go-to choice for party planners and celebrities alike. Goldstein died in 2009 of an apparent drug overdose, but the new documentary As I Am: The Life and Times of DJ AM — premiering today at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York — tells the story of his rise.

In an exclusive clip from the film, which you can watch above, Goldstein is seen taking the stage soon after a deadly plane crash he survived in 2008 (also on the plane: Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker). An archival interview with Jay-Z reveals his surprise over AM’s post-crash performance at one of his concerts.

The film, featuring the likes of m Guns N’ Roses, Madonna, the late Michael Jackson, and many more, looks back on the entire life and work of DJ AM, tracking how he was the first DJ to forge a multi-million dollar business.
