8 Oct – Gerald Santos recently expressed his awe and admiration for Lea Salonga, whom he was lucky enough to get to work with in the upcoming musical, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".
As reported on Push, the singer, who spoke to the media at the press launch for the said Atlantis Productions musical, stated that he is starstruck every day and feels grateful for the opportunity to work with Salonga, as well as the other cast members.
"I never thought that right after "Miss Saigon", I would get to work with the original Kim of "Miss Saigon" herself. I am grateful and blessed," he said.
Santos also expressed happiness to be able to learn from Salonga and the rest of the cast like Jett Pangan and Ima Castro.
"I learned how they process things, how they work, and their professionalism. I really learned a lot from them," he said.
In "Sweeney Todd", Santos plays the role of Anthony, whom he described as a young cheerful guy who just wants to explore the world and fall in love with a woman of his dream.
"I am just like him actually, so it is very easy for me to relate to this character," he added, though admitted that it was also the most challenging vocal-wise.
"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" will run from 11 to 27 October at the Theater at Solaire.
