After being teased on our minimaps for the better part of a year and a half, Genshin Impact players will finally be able to access The Chasm in the 2.6 update.

Titled "Zephyr of the Violet Garden", the update, coming on 30 March, will also see the arrival of Kamisato Ayato, the 5-star sword-wielding head of the Kamisato Clan.

Unlike his sister Ayaka (who will be getting a rerun in the latter part of 2.6), Ayato has a Hydro vision and can also boost the effects of his party's Normal Attacks.

Tartaglia/Childe has been carrying the Hydro element for a while, so it'll be good to see what Ayato brings to the table, especially since he feels like he can work as both main and sub DPS. He'll also be arriving with his own signature weapon, the Haran Geppaku Futsu, so we hope you've been saving your primogems!

Also, now is a good time to remind everyone to claim the codes from the preview stream while they last:

  • AB7CKBVQULE5 (100 Primogems, 10 Mystic Enhancement Ores)

  • 3TPUKSV8C5X9 (100 Primogems, 5 Hero's Wits)

  • UT7C2TD8C5ZD (100 Primogems, 50000 Mora)

Ayato will be on the banner together with the drunk tone-deaf bard, Venti, whom we still rank quite highly, so choose wisely (unless you're a leviathan mega whale, in which case, you do you)! Also do note that Ayato requires Ascension materials from the Inazuma region, so make sure you're at least AR 30.

There are also new artifacts sets coming our way, so prepare for crushing levels of agony the great joy that is artifact farming!

The first set, the Vermillion Hereafter, is an ATK-boosting set that gives additional ATK after an Elemental Burst and an ATK increase as a character's HP decreases, and looks pretty fantastic for characters that lose health when they activate their Elemental Burst. I don't know, maybe there's some broody, emo-Anemo Yaksha out there who might find this useful?

The second set, Echoes of an Offering, is another ATK-boosting set that, with a 4-piece, essentially gives you a guaranteed 70% of ATK boost to your Normal Attack DMG after several hits (it starts off with a 36% chance, but that chance increases each time you fail to trigger it). This definitely looks interesting, especially for Sword-wielders with low ATK multipliers. Oh, hey, don't Ayato and Ayaka both use Swords? What a coincidence.

Back to The Chasm, the new area will feature a new boss enemy called the Ruin Serpent, and continues the main story with a new Archon quest. Fans of the mysterious Dainsleif will be happy to know that he makes another appearance (two husbandos in one update, you spoil us, HoYoverse!).

Expect to see Treasure Hoarders, the Fatui and other monsters in this new area, as well as the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget and other rewards as you travel deeper into The Chasm.

There will also be a huge Inazuma event, called the Magnificent Irodori Festival, which is organised by the foxy Yae Miko, and will see the return of the ex-Archon Venti, Xingqiu (one of the best 4-stars, who can be gotten for free through an event) and many others (Klee!).

It's really interesting to see HoYoverse try to pack more story-driven events into the game, instead of just combat-related ones, and we really enjoyed recent the drink-mixing event. Maybe not so much the rhythm games, though.

With so much in store for 2.6, Genshin Impact fans will have much to explore. But, you know, where are our Dendro characters? With the 2x updates coming to a close, it does feel like we're still no closer to having that new Element in the mix.

That said, we're still pretty hyped for Ayato and The Chasm. We'll have more when the update drops!
