Gemma Chan takes time to do her beauty regime each day as she finds each step to be “quite meditative”.
The British actress is currently one of the most in-demand names in Hollywood, having won acclaim for her performances in films such as Crazy Rich Asians and Mary Queen of Scots.
Gemma’s career can mean she is required to wear lots of make-up for roles, but in an interview with Michelle Lee for The Allure Podcast, she explained that she enjoys removing her cosmetics at the end of the day because the ritual is “very calming”.
“I think I have a quite holistic kind of approach to it all, which is that I think you should take care of yourself on the inside, but also take care of yourself on the outside, and they will feed each other,” she commented. “My beauty ritual is something that I find very calming. It can definitely give you a lift if you're feeling a bit tired or you're feeling a bit down. You can kind of go through your steps, and it's kind of quite meditative, really.”
Gemma went on to explain that she uses Simple’s Micellar Wipes to take off her make-up and then will follow this by swiping on some micellar water toner. The star will then use products from the Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect range to hydrate.
“I use the serum, the eye cream, and their night and day cream as well,” the 36-year-old shared.
Elsewhere in the chat, Gemma noted that she tries not to wear any make-up at all on her days off, but sometimes has eyelash extensions put in to enhance her lashes. And she only uses Maybelline’s Falsies Waterproof Mascara - but applies the formula with an entirely different brush.
“I use a brush from an old Maybelline Define-a-Lash Mascara, which is a different brush from the one you get with Maybelline the Falsies, which is more of like a scooping brush... which I find puts too much on at once, whereas the Define-a-Lash brush puts just the right amount on, and you can kind of coat the lashes. And then they stay!” she stated.
