GEM Tang won't back down despite lawsuit threats

4 Apr – GEM Tang recently stressed that she will continue to use her stage name despite the lawsuit that has been filed by her estranged record label, Hummingbird Music.

As reported on On CC, the singer, who responded to news of the company's recent action, stated that she can't make further comments about the issue as it has entered legal proceedings.

However, GEM addressed Hummingbird's statement that she has signed a second contract renewal in 2014 that only took effect in 2017, saying that the CEO made her sign the renewal for her to be allowed to compete in the finals of the Chinese reality singing competition, "I Am A Singer" - the same show that brought her newfound fame in the music industry.

She also stressed that the company has also violated the contract, as the second contract renewal should have taken effect the day it was signed, not three years later.

"I will continue to use the name GEM as it belongs to me. I will continue to perform and make my music. I believe in justice and will face this courageously," she said.
