Gaumont Taps Alexis Cassanet, Adeline Falampin to Head International Sales (EXCLUSIVE)

PARIS — French mini-major Gaumont has poached former SND exec Alexis Cassanet to co-head the company’s international sales team alongside Adeline Falampin.

Cassanet and Falampin will report to Cécile Gaget, who previously ran international sales and was appointed boss of Gaumont’s international production and distribution in the run-up to Cannes.

During his seven-year tenure at SND, Cassanet successfully handled sales on high-profile French movies, including Jalil Lespert’s period biopic “Yves Saint Laurent,” comedy hit “La Famille Bélier” and the upcoming Omar-Sy starrer “Two is a Family.” Cassanet also spearheaded sales on a flurry of English-language films, notably Jessica Biel-starrer “The Tall Man,” as well as “The Love Punch” with Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson and, more recently, Tommy Wirkola’s sci-fi action thriller “What Happened to Monday” with Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close.

“I’m thrilled about joining such a prestigious company which has represented so many talented directors over the past 120 years. It’s an exciting challenge for me and I am very proud to participate in the international development of the company,” said Cassanet.

Falampin was promoted to co-head of international sales after working five years as sales manager. Falampin kicked off her career at Gaumont in 2012, a golden year for the company which was celebrating the smashing box office of “Intouchables,” and she went on to sell a wide range of French- and English-language films, including Nicolas Winding Refn’s “The Neon Demon,” Omar Sy-starrer “Samba” and the anticipated animated feature “Ballerina.”

Falampin started her career at UGC, where she handled international sales and marketing before joining TF1 International.

“Together they form a wonderful and complementary team with experience ranging from arthouse shingles to bigger media groups,” said Gaget. “Both of them have proved successfully in developing a haute-couture approach to rebrand and market each project. This is also the way Gaumont builds close relationships with distributors, producers and talent.”

While Gaget will keep her hands on select markets, she will be mostly dedicated to developing and co-producing English-language, internationally driven films as well as local-language remakes in overseas markets.

Gaumont’s current slate includes Armando Iannucci’s “Death of Stalin,” with Steve Buscemi and Jeffrey Tambor, and “C’est la vie,” directed by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, the duo behind “Intouchables.”
