It would be a most prestigious address for the ardent Game of Thrones fan – The Old Keep, Riverrun Castle, The Riverlands, Westeros.

And now there’s a chance to make such dreams a reality.

Gosford Castle near Armagh in Northern Ireland, previously a hotel and since used as the set for the ancestral seat of Catelyn Stark in the HBO TV show, is up for sale.

Split into what are set to be luxury apartments with in-keeping names like ‘The Inner Bailey,’ ‘The Round Tower,’ and ‘The Old Keep’, one could be yours from £500,000.

Built in the 1800s by the Second Earl of Gosford, its original 15 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms have now been converted into separate dwellings, some with roof gardens.

Prior to it being the home of House Tully on the TV show, it had a rich history of its own.

It was commandeered and used to house troops in World War II, while the estate that surrounds it was also used for prisoners of war.

The building fell back into military use during The Troubles in the 1980s, and became a hotel in 1983, upon which the grounds were cultivated into Northern Ireland’s first conservation forest in 1986.

But for fans of Thrones, it’s perhaps more exciting to muse that it was gifted to the evil Walder Frey following the Red Wedding, and then besieged by Jaime Lannister and Bronn in season six.

It’s thought Game of Thrones will return to screens for its last season in Spring, 2019.
