This 'Game of Thrones' Fan Theory Says Bran Gave Tyrion Key Information About Daenerys

From Esquire

Tyrion has not done a great job so far in acting as Daenerys' Hand on Game of Thrones. He's advised her into quite a few bad scenarios, and although he's sometimes coached her away from acting on her worst instincts, in the end, he couldn't stop her from becoming the Mad Queen and slaughtering thousands in King's Landing.

But according to one new fan theory, it's possible that Tyrion's actions in Episode Five weren't acting as Daenerys' top advisor, but acting to stop events that he knew would take place. One Reddit user runs down a number of events that Tyrion knew would happen in Episode Five but tried to change anyway:

She's going to die. Unless you convince her to change her course of action. - Tyrion to Jaime

The city will fall by tomorrow. - Tyrion to Jaime

Escape. The two of you, together. - Tyrion to Jaime

Please, if you hear them ringing the bells, call off the attack. - Tyrion to Dany and Greyworm

If you hear the bells, they've surrendered. Call off your men. - Tyrion to Jon and Greyworm

As the Reddit user explains, he knew all of this would happen because Bran told him. That's why Tyrion was so adamant that the bells ringing would mean surrender. And that's how he knew Cersei would die unless Jaime was able to get her to safety. He thought he could change what was meant to happen.

Now, Bran's powers, as we know, are still pretty mysterious. We know he can't look into the future the same way he can see events that are happening and have already happened long into the past. Some Reddit users have pointed out that Bran wouldn't know what was going to happen in the battle for King's Landing. However, he has had brief visions before that have given him clues into the future-for example dragons at King's Landing and Cersei burning the Sept of Baelor. And considering Bran knows everything that has happened in the past, he could look into every major moment in Daenerys' life to get an idea of her true nature. The same goes for Cersei. He would know exactly what her battle plans were and that she would choose to stay and die in the Red Keep. It's possible that Bran put some pieces of these visions together to get a good idea of what would happen in King's Landing, which he told to Tyrion off screen before and after the Battle For Winterfell.

The show went through great lengths to put Bran and Tyrion in the same room together and set up their long conversations. There has already been precedent for this type of storytelling technique in Game of Thrones, when Bran warned Sansa and Arya about Littlefinger off screen in Season Seven.

So he gave all of the information he had to Tyrion, who used it the best he could to avoid the inevitable. Of course he couldn't. And it's likely that Bran knew this, too, and that Tyrion attempting to stop the future from taking place is exactly what was meant to happen in order for (hopefully) a happy ending in Episode Six. We'll know for sure on Sunday.
