Gail Belmonte drops final release for 2020, "Restart"
13 Nov – Released today is the final song from Gail Belmonte's trio of 2020 singles. Called "Restart", the electro-R&B ballad is written by Belmonte herself based on her personal experience.
"It was deeply upsetting at the time but I learnt so much, including the fact that there will be new beginnings, even if it seems like it won't be happening anytime soon or in the ways we want," the Filipina-Singaporean singer-songwriter stated.
The most personal of her releases so far, the song, with its steady 808 kick that plays throughout, immerses listeners in a harrowing tale of breakup and romantic dissolution.
"I wanted this to be like the sound of a heartbeat, grounding the song musically from start to finish," Belmonte added.
Having successfully debuted as a solo artiste under Singapore's Umami Records with her three singles this year, the R&B/soul singer-songwriter is now working on a self-titled debut EP that is set to be released in 2021.
Aside from that, fans can also look forward to her upcoming collaboration with R&B singer Angelo Martinez on an acoustic EP.
