What is the fuss over Louis Vuitton x Supreme all about?
Streetwear fans around the world and in Singapore have been queuing up to get their hands on the coveted Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection released this month – but what exactly is the collection about?
The fashion collection is a collaboration between American streetwear brand Supreme and luxury brand Louis Vuitton. The collaboration debuted at the Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January 2017, some 17 years after LV sued Supreme for selling a skateboard bearing the iconic LV monogram. Back then, LV demanded that every single skateboard bearing its logo be destroyed.
Now, LV and Supreme have teamed up to produce an extensive collection which combines Supreme’s signature red hue with the classic LV monogram. The first releases in Sydney, Tokyo and Beijing saw hours-long queues, with many customers spending thousands on individual items.
Some of the most sought-after items in the collection are the box logo t-shirt and skateboard trunks. These items don’t come cheap, with the cheapest item in the collection being a S$300+ card holder.
