Frustrated netizens are calling for Neelofa's imprisonment

21 May – It looks like four SOP violations is the number that does it, as some netizens are now calling for celebrity-entrepreneur Neelofa to be given the prison sentence.

A petition on Change.org has recently been made by an unknown user using the name "Hentikan Double Standard", who wrote, "Neelofa is a celebrity who has repeatedly violated SOPs and defied the law in the nation's efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The offences were committed indiscriminately resulting in the existence of a double standard law imposed on her."

The said user also listed the offences Neelofa and her family have committed, including her honeymoon in Langkawi back in March, and the most recent family gathering she and her family had during Eid.

"Based on these repeated offences, we urge the Government of Malaysia & the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for Neelofa to be immediately imprisoned without compromise as a clear signal to the Government not to apply double standard laws to VVIPs & dignitaries!"

It is noted that the petition has been gaining traction, with nearly 55,000 signatories at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, frustrated fans are now accusing Neelofa's bashers of being a bully, with one fan calling these critics Zionists and comparing the former actress and her husband to Palestinians.

On the other hand, Neelofa and husband Muhammad Haris recently appeared in the magistrate court in Seremban to plead not guilty over charges of SOP violations after they were caught buying carpets in Nilai 3 earlier this month.

If convicted, the couple can be fined not more than RM50,000 or imprisoned not more than six months or both.

The actress has not made any comments about either her recent court appearance or the petition against her, choosing instead to focus on her activism for the Palestinian Cause.
