'Frozen 2' scores second-biggest digital release ever in the UK

Disney’s Frozen II had a huge first week on the Official Film Chart landing the second-highest opening week of digital download sales ever.

With a whopping 218,700 digital downloads, Frozen II is bested in first-week sales only by Avengers: Endgame, which claimed 335,400 in August 2019. Avengers: Infinity War comes in at third with 214,300 in its first chart week.

The animated sequel was released on Digital in 4K Ultra HD™ and HD on 16 March ahead of its physical release on 30 March. Bonus features include deleted scenes, deleted songs, Easter eggs, outtakes and a sing-along version.

The sequel revisits Arendelle where Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf set off on a dangerous journey to discover why Elsa was born with magical powers and save their kingdom. It won’t be available on Disney+ until later this year.

Meanwhile, Le Mans ‘66 hangs on at number two as Last Christmas hops five places to number three following its release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD; last week’s number one Midway drops to number five.

A second new entry enters the chart at number six, Knives Out; Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is brought in to investigate the death of renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Can Blanc uncover the truth behind the death of the celebrated writer?

Terminator: Dark Fate drops to number seven, Joker’s down to eight, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil slips to number nine. Finally, the live-action remake of The Lion King holds on at number ten.
