Friends launch online barber shop to put an end to DIY disasters during lockdown

We’ve all seen our fair share of dodgy haircuts in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.

From questionable fades to at-home hair dyeing, social media is awash with photos of DIY disasters.

If you’ve managed to hold out so far, though, you’ll be pleased to know that help has arrived in the form of Lockdown Haircut, a website which allows you to book 20-minute hair appointments with a world-class barber.

The barber will chat you through a step-by-step trim, leaving you with hair you can be proud to take a photo of for Instagram.

The hairdressers of the country will have enough to contend with when we are all out of lockdown (complete re-style, anyone?) so it seems like a good idea to at least try to keep your hair in manageable condition.

Hair consultations cost £15, which is split between local barbers and a donation to the NHS.

Barbers can also choose to donate their portion of the haircut price to the NHS and people who use the site have the option to donate a further £5 to the health service.

If you’re thinking of taking advantage of the new service, you will need a couple of key things. These include; a razor or clippers, a comb and a laptop with a webcam.

You can choose to do the haircut yourself - which might prove to be pretty tricky - or you can ask a member of your family who will (hopefully) willingly help out.

There are plenty of barbers already signed up to the site, which include hairdressers from top salons across the UK, all of whom are professionally qualified.

The idea was created by two men, Dan Silvertown, 27, and Jeroen Sibia, 31. Neither of them can cut hair but they wanted to do their bit to stop more DIY disasters occurring during the COVID-19 lockdown.

We’ve all got to be grateful for that.

Despite only just launching, plenty of people have already booked in their lockdown haircuts, showing just how much we all needed a bit of guidance.
