Fred Cheng welcomes TVB collaboration with Big Four

24 Feb – Although he is still working solo after leaving Voice Entertainment this year, Fred Cheng admitted that he is excited with the idea that TVB is mending ties with the Big Four record labels under the management of its new Deputy General Manager and Special Advisor to the Executive Committee, Eric Tsang.

As reported on HK01, the singer, who appeared in TVB City for the recording of "Cantopop at 50", revealed that while he is no longer associated with Voice Entertainment, he is still very much a TVB artiste who is looking forward to working with singers of other labels like Warner and Sony Music.

"It will be good. The music industry will flourish and a lot of singers will be able to appear on our shows. I am looking forward to it," he enthused.

When asked which non-TVB performer he would like to collaborate with, Fred named top star Eason Chan, saying that the singer was his idol.

The singer also revealed that he is currently in negotiations with several different record companies about being a part of their management.

However, he admitted that Voice Entertainment's CEO Herman Ho has yet to ask him to join since the latter announced his departure from the company. The music producer had announced recently that he will be leaving his post on 28 February - reportedly so that he could develop his own music business.

"We have not yet been in contact with each other," he said.
