Fox Buys Legal Dramedy From Carter Covington, Robin Schiff & Jason Winer

Fox has given a script commitment plus penalty to Token White Male, an hourlong dramedy from Life in Pieces executive producer Jason Winer, Faking It showrunner Carter Covington and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion writer Robin Schiff. 20th Century Fox TV, where Winer’s company, Small Dog Picture Co. is based, is the studio.

Written by Covington and Robin Schiff, Token White Male is a character-based procedural about a fun-loving, no-filter, low-rent lawyer who, against all odds, becomes the first male associate at a groundbreaking all-female law firm.

Winer executive produces with Covington and Schiff.

This is the third project Winer has sold to Fox through 20th TV this season, along with workplace comedy Type-A, written by Lesley Wake Webster, and medical workplace half-hour This Might Hurt, written by New Girl co-executive producers Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner.

The project reunites Covington and Schiff, who worked together as executive producers on the series 10 Things I Hate About You, which Covington developed based on the movie. Covington is repped by WME.
