Former competitors return for "Singer 2020"

3 Jan – The hit Chinese reality singing competition "Singer" (also known as "I Am A Singer") is back, bringing with it an interesting mix of line-up and a new name.

As reported on ET Today, the show announced the first six contenders for the coveted title, which include the likes of Zhou Shen, Hua Chenyu, Lala Hsu, and Jam Hsiao.

As for its international competitor, this year marks the participation of Japanese singer MISIA.

It is noted some of these artistes have already competed in the previous seasons, including Lala, who participated in the fourth season, and Hua, who was part of the 2018 edition.

The show, which was nicknamed "Singer 2020", was also renamed "Singer: Year of the Hits" and will have some changes made to its system. Unlike in previous seasons, this year, singers who are eliminated will be given the chance to challenge other performers.

The first phase of the show will be recorded today, 3 January, with its premiere set for this 31 January.

Last year, the competition was won by Chinese singer Liu Huan, with Sodagreen's Wu Tsing-fong following behind.
