Former child actor Ian Gouw returns with "Septet"

22 Sep – Fourteen years since his award-winning performance in "After This Our Exile", former child actor Ian Iskandar Gouw makes his acting comeback with the new omnibus film, "Septet".

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor who was eight when he worked with Aaron Kwok in the aforementioned movie, is now 23 and ready to make his mark in showbiz again through one of the segments of the anthology helmed by his mentor and "After This Our Exile" director, Patrick Tam.

Co-star Jennifer Yu, who worked with Ian in the new project, stated that she was mesmerised by the actor's work, having seen him in the 2006 film.

"He is a very hard-working actor. Since he didn't know Chinese, he didn't understand the script at first. But he was able to familiarise himself and understand his character well," she said.

Ian, who won several awards for his performance in the previous film including a Golden Horse Awards' Best Supporting Actor, did not pursue his career in acting afterwards and instead pursued his studies - fulfilling the wish of his late mother, Michelle Szema, who died in 2015.
