The First Photos of the Pink Pineapple Are Here
The unicorn of fruit is here and it comes in the form of a hot pink pineapple. Pink. Freaking. Pineapples.
Patented by fruit producer Del Monte, pink pineapples have been in development since 2005 - way before the unicorn or Millennial pink obsession - and the genetically-modified fruit was finally approved by the FDA for consumption in December.
Is your pink-loving heart fluttering? Same.
Del Monte and Dole are now allegedly growing the pink pineapples, which are made rose-colored by adding lycopene (the substance that gives tomatoes a ruby hue). The taste is described as "extra sweet pink flesh pineapple."

Back in December nobody really knew what the pink pineapples would look like but now, they're popping up all over Instagram. Prepare to lose it over the cuteness:
No word on where to get your hands on a pink pineapple just yet but imagine the possibilities. Pink piña coladas! Pink pineapple smoothies! Pink everything!
