First photo of John Turturro as Jesus in The Big Lebowski spin-off
John Turturro’s Jesus Quintana is back – and nobody… well, if you’ve seen ‘The Big Lebowski’ you know how to end that sentence.
Variety shared the first photograph of Turturro reprising his best-loved role in ‘Going Places,’ a remake of a 1974 French film which the actor is also directing and has written the screenplay for.

While the film is not an official sequel to ‘The Big Lebowski,’ Turturro is playing Jesus again with the full blessing of the 1998 cult classic’s writer-directors Joel and Ethan Coen, as the character himself was actually an original creation of Turturro’s, which the actor first performed in a one-man stage show.
The original ‘Going Places’ (AKA ‘Les Valseuses’) starred a young Gérard Depardieu, whilst Turturro’s version will see him share the screen with Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon.
Reportedly the film centres on “a trio of misfits whose irreverent, sexually charged dynamic evolves into a love story as their spontaneous and flippant attitude backfires time and again. When they make enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser, their journey becomes one of constant escape.”
But, as this first new still proves, Jesus still finds time amongst all this to indulge his love of bowling. Looks like that creep can still roll.
An independent production, ‘Going Places’ will reportedly seek international distribution at the American Film Market this November – so all being well it’ll reach screens at some point in 2017.
