It’s official – ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ has begun.

Ethan Hunt is back in action as ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ takes to the skies for an action-packed first day of production.

Director Chris McQuarrie appeared on Twitter to officially announce that production on the highly-anticipated ‘Mission Impossible’ sequel had begun, taking Tom Cruise to dizzying heights in Paris, France.

“Light the fuse,” he wrote on Twitter, alongside a photo from the set.

Cinematographer Rob Hardy released a similar image of the ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ clapboard on Instagram.

But it seems we’ve also got our first look at the real action.

Alongside these cool clapboard shots, Tom Cruise and Chris McQuarrie were spotted shooting some rooftop scenes involving armed troops and helicopters. And we’ve got those pictures for you below:

Arriving by helicopter, both Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie appeared on set, with Cruise’s first scenes seemingly involving some kind of armed prisoner transfer.

But who is the prisoner?

At first glance, that looks a lot like ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ star, Sean Harris who played Solomon Lane – the former MI6 agent who went rogue to lead The Syndicate, and was taken into custody at the end of the movie.

But there’s been so far no official word on his involvement.

Still, it looks as though ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ is off to an interesting start.

There’s already word that it will include the franchise’s biggest stunt yet, so it seems as though they’re pulling out all the stop for an explosive sequel.

“I came to Tom with a picture of something and Tom looked at it and said, ‘That’s awesome! I want to fall off of that!’,” McQuarrie told The Empire Podcast. “It’s like, okay, I can see it on a poster, and I can see Tom falling off of it.”

“I’ve seen five of these movies and I don’t know who Ethan Hunt is,” McQuarrie added. “One movie sort of dealt with his personal life, the other movies are about people speculating what’s really going on in Ethan’s head. I want to know who Ethan is in this movie, I want an emotional journey for this character, and Tom really embraced it.”

‘Mission: Impossible 6’ stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg and Henry Cavill.

Christopher McQuarrie is directing the movie based on his own script.

‘Mission: Impossible 6’ opens in cinemas on 27 July 2018.
