J.Lo Posted a BTS Clip of Herself Pole Dancing and It Looks So Painful

Waiting for Hustlers is like waiting for The Avengers if you’re not a nerd. What’s not to love? Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Lili Reinhart, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, and Keke Palmer star in a movie about grifter strippers who steal from rich men. You literally need no more information.

Lucky for us, Hustlers is ALMOST HERE. Here’s everything we know so far.

Release date?!

J.Lo was just casually giving a tour of Bergdorf Goodman at 3 a.m. between takes when she announced that Hustlers is coming to theaters September 13!!!

SEPTEMBER 13!!! They just started filming, and we get to see the movie in just under five months! How did we get so blessed?

I don’t know what to geek out about first? J.Lo teaching Constance how to dance on the pole? Every time Lizzo showed up on the screen? This photo?

And now you can finally get a glimpse of Cardi B’s character, Diamond, in this new trailer. Warning: It will make it harder to wait a week to see the scene in full:

The plot!

Hustlers is based on a New York Magazine article from 2016 that “follows a crew of savvy former strip-club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.” (Fun fact: Cardi B used to be a stripper and reportedly robbed customers, so there’s that!)

While not much is known about our fave celebs’ roles in the movie, Julia revealed to Cosmopolitan at the DVF Awards that she’s playing Jessica Pressler, the journalist who covers the story and interviews the dancers. And J.Lo is set to star as the ringleader of the group, Ramona.

The cast keeps getting more stacked!!!

As of April 24, the Hustlers cast got even more exciting. Rapper/singer/badass Lizzo will be making her onscreen debut, according to EW. Lizzo just keeps slaying, having just played Coachella and dropping her album, Cuz I Love You.

Lizzo portrays Liz, a flute-playing stripper. “She’s the loud one. She lets all the girls know what’s up. I’m celebrating this one girl’s new titties,” Lizzo tells Cosmo. “I can get us riled up, you know? So it’s kind of like me in real life. Same outfits. It was a blast. It was really, really easy to get into that character.”

The Handmaid’s Tale star Madeline Brewer will be playing Dawn, “an exotic dancer who is part of the crew of savvy former strip-club employees.” Madeline tells Cosmo that Dawn is the complete opposite of Ramona. Skip to the bottom for a major Dawn-related spoiler.

J.Lo sports a six-pack and fake piercing!

Thank god for Jennifer’s hairstylist, who is sharing a ton of BTS shots from set. Meet Ramona:

She’s not the only one who looks waaay different than usual.

Madeline tells Cosmo that the looks are WILD. Especially for Lili, who Madeline says wears bandage dresses and a poof in her hair. Remember the early 2000s? Like that.

I’m so ready to see Lili minus her Betty Cooper ponytail and sweater sets, aren’t you? Luckily, there are photos.

The stripping scenes get real.

“It’s a nightmare thinking about being up there. I’m exposing myself, let’s say, in a way, emotionally and physically more than I’ve ever done in a movie,” J.Lo tells the Elvis Duran Z00 Morning Show. “And I’ve done love scenes and this and that, whatever, but not like I was up there like that.”

“I take sexy pictures and all that kind of stuff,” she continues. “I’ve done videos that are very sexy...it’s not that, but this is a different mentality, and so as an actress it’s a scary…for me, it’s not scary, it just makes me nervous.”

Back in April, Lili posted a pic to her Insta Story of her pole-dancing practice...in heels!!!

Talk about core strength! This move is definitely a few levels above her Serpent Queen dance from Riverdale season 2. Now that I think about it, I wonder if that was her audition tape?

The cast is ridiculously respectful (and quiet)!

Even though they literally just started filming this movie, the cast is already gushing about every detail (wouldn’t you?).

At the DVF Awards, Julia filled us in on what the on-set ~vibes~ are like.

“It’s incredible. I’ve honestly never worked on such a professional, focused, and quiet set too, a respectful set,” Julia told Cosmopolitan. “I think a lot of the work that Constance and Jennifer have to do is really, really challenging, not only in the fun hair/makeup/wardrobe that they have [but also] the transformation that they’re going through. But there’s actually a deeply rooted emotional story behind it, so everybody’s been really respectful. It’s great.”

But they also know how to have a blast. When most of the cast was filming together in NYC, they shared the cutest snippets. First up, we’ve got Constance:

I just have a few questions:

• Where are Lili’s and Keke’s shoes? It’s still cold in NYC in April! PUT ON SOME UGGS BETWEEN TAKES, BABES!

• Where is Cardi B? I am not-so-patiently waiting for her close-up.

• How old is Constance? Normally, I’d say 30. In this video, I’d say 18, Wikipedia says 37. WHAT’S THE TRUTH?

• What’s this roof scene all about? These BTS moments are fun, but I’d love some spoilers, please!

J.Lo is, like, the best costar.

Madeline told Cosmo alllll about what it was like shooting her first scene with the international pop star/actress/queen.

“I was, like, visibly shaking,” she says, having just come shooting Handmaid’s Tale the DAY BEFORE. “J.Lo, at one point, just grabbed my hand. She’s like, ‘You’re doing great.’ It was really, really nice.”

Lizzo, who had never shot a movie before, had a very similar experience. “She’s such a professional. She’s such a vet in the game,” she told Cosmo. “I was looking at her like, Wow, you’re the leader right now. And she definitely did her job. She controlled the room and led the sisterhood.”

Cardi shot for only one day.

According to Madeline, Cardi shot for only one day due to her insane schedule. Perhaps “starring Cardi B” is an exaggeration. Time will tell.

But don’t worry, Cardi did have a chance to improvise, which I can’t even imagine but I’m so excited for. “Cardi B was funny, man. She had me rolling. She had everybody cracking up,” Lizzo said. “We got to improv and Cardi really took artistic liberties and just went off, and it was really cool to watch. She’s such a character.”

Constance was not a diva on set, k?

There were some vicious rumors going around in the press that Constance demanded top billing over J.Lo and was “difficult” to work with on-set. Her reps are shutting these posts DOWN.
