First Lady Jill Biden Selects Stylish J’Adior Slingback Pumps at the Notre-Dame Reopening in Paris Alongside Donald Trump
First Lady Jill Biden was one of many prominent figures at the Dec. 7 reopening of Notre Dame de Paris, the famous French cathedral which was restored after a 2019 fire.
The event gathered a number of notables from around the world. While President Joe Biden was not present, his wife and daughter Ashley connected with president of France Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron. Biden was also seen greeting president-elect Donald Trump.

For the occasion in Paris, Biden blended blue and black shades to create a classy winter aesthetic. Underneath a long black coat, she wore a double-breasted calf-length coat dress in a sapphire hue. A multi-toned scarf with frayed edges looped around her neck, with a periwinkle hue standing out as a lighter accent. Her outfit aligned with the aesthetic of her daughter and the first lady of France, who also wore statement jackets and pumps.
Fitting in with her color palette, Biden selected a pair of slingback pumps by Christian Dior, specifically a pair from the brand’s J’Adior line. Her shoes featured a pointed toe, a sloped sole and a stiletto heel. The style is highly identifiable because of the black and white fabric slingback strap bearing a repetition of the ‘J’ADIOR’ label, a portmanteau of “J’adore” and “Dior.” Another signature aspect of the style is the flat bow on the side of each shoe. Biden also wore black J’Adior pumps at the White House last year for a celebration of Nowruz, the first day of the Persian New Year.
Biden’s style often incorporates classic pointed footwear. At the Democratic National Convention in August, she donned a sparkling silver pair from Jimmy Choo to go with a shimmering blue dress. And she slipped on black pointed shoes at the Ralph Lauren spring 2025 show during New York Fashion Week in September.
