First Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer is slick, cool and introduces us to Baby Groot
The first trailer for ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2′ has finally been released, and it gives us a sneak peak at the entire posse that made the original so supremely endearing and successful.
But while Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) are pretty much in the same shape and spirit as when we last left them, all eyes were on Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), who with just a quick smile immediately stole our hearts as he perched on Rocket’s shoulder. What a bloody cutey.
The teaser trailer for ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2′ didn’t really give us any insight into its plot. But there was some lovely sizzle reel footage of Gamora flinging through the air with some pretty tasty knives, a red-mohawked Yondu (Michael Rooker), looking just like he does in the comics and strutting alongside Rocket as a hoard of blue-faced aliens struggled to deal with gravity, while we also saw Nebula (Karen Gillan) in shackles.
Audiences also got a reminder of the wit and humour that was on display throughout ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’, with a safety sign having been altered with graffiti to now read, “Spacesuits for emergency – or fun.” But the best exchange came between Drax and Star-Lord.
After Star-Lord opened up to his colossus comrade about his love woes with Gamora, Drax then offered the horrific advice of, “There are 2 types of beings in the universe. Those who dance and those who do not. You just need to find a woman who is pathetic like you.” Drax then hugged it out with Star Lord, despite the latter’s insistence that he didn’t need one.
All of this bounced along, once again, to Blue Swede’s Hooked On A Feeling, which was used in the trailer for the original film. The title cards also teased us with, “This summer the galaxy won’t save itself.”
We’ll get to see exactly what that means when ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2′ kicks of the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on May 5, 2017.
