First dibs: Kalijodo Coffee opens 2 outlets in S’pore, serves avocado & cream cheese coffee
It is undeniable that Singaporeans love our coffees; whether it’s the kopi c kosong from our favourite uncle in a plastic bag every morning, or a Frappuccino with an extra shot of espresso that we consider an essential aspect in our daily life. If you’re like me, a caffeine-addicted creature of habit who loves her morning americano, Kalijodo Coffee offers unconventional combinations that might pique your curiosity enough to break routine and give something new a shot.
Hailing from Indonesia, Kalijodo Coffee is Singapore’s first specialty Avocado Drink joint. Think of the iced coffee you love so much, but with a twist. Kalijodo Coffee offers a variety of drinks including the Avojodo (S$6.60), an unconventional blend of avocado, espresso, and chocolate ice cream that reminded us of dessert, but in drink form.
For the adventurous ones who are keen on trying other chocolatey flavours, Kalijodo Coffee also offers the Avojodo Nutella (S$6.40). Even though the Nutella notes could have been more pronounced, we found the combination refreshing and earthy nonetheless.
If you can’t decide between getting an iced coffee or your usual bubble tea fix, Kalijodo Coffee promises to kill two birds with one drink. Take your pick from a variety of options, including the Si Lorenk on Fire (S$7), an unconventional combination of arabica coffee milk, brown sugar boba, cream cheese, and brown sugar brûlée on top, as well as the Si Lorenk Cookies (S$5.90), which promises a delectable mix of arabica coffee milk, boba, cream cheese, brown sugar, and Oreo cookies.
It was our favourite out of the four, with a creamy mix of oreo cookies and boba that went well together. Despite the cheese flavour being less pronounced than we had hoped, it was still a delicious afternoon pick-me-up.
Kalijodo Coffee has two outlets in Singapore located at 400 Joo Chiat Road and Far East Plaza, with a 1-for-1 promotion at the latter everyday until 20 June, from 3pm to 5pm. But don’t worry if your busy WFH schedule is keeping you at home for most part of the day—you can order yourself a post-lunch sweet treat on online delivery platforms Grabfood, foodpanda and Deliveroo still.
