Felix Chong inspired by Chow Yun Fat's past roles

19 Sep – Hong Kong director Felix Chong recently admitted that Chow Yun Fat's character in the new movie, "Project Gutenberg" is a combination of his many past roles.

As reported on Mingpao, the filmmaker, who attended a student forum as part of the movie promotional activity, shared that he has always been a fan of Chow's classic films like "A Better Tomorrow", "The Killer" and "God of Gamblers", which is why Chow's character as a counterfeit mastermind codenamed Painter is inspired by all of his previous roles in said movies.

"I couldn't help it. I have been watching Chow's films since I was only a few years old. I'm sure a good portion of Hong Kong people are his fans. He has been a part of the TV and film industries for many years," he said.

Felix also admitted that Chow's experience in doing so many gunfight scenes also enabled him to help the team on how to effectively shoot such a scene.

"He really remembers how many shots he fired and how many bullets used. He was very professional," he said.

On the other hand, when asked if he is worried that people would use the knowledge they got from the movie to make their own counterfeit money, Felix laughed and said that the cost of printing fake money shown in the movie would be way more expensive than the product itself.
