Felix Chong to helm movie about the Carrian Group case?

15 Oct – Rumour has it that director Felix Chong is helming a new movie that will star two powerhouses - Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Nicholas Tse.

According to HK01, the said movie, tentatively titled "Goldfinger", reportedly will be produced by Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP) and has already received the backing of some mainland investors.

It is expected to start shooting next year with the overall production budget of over HKD 230 million.

Although no further details about the movie were shared, sources claimed that it will revolve around a Hong Kong listed company that goes bankrupt and subsequently becomes the subject of a corruption investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).

It is said that the movie will be inspired by the real life case of the Carrian Group - a Hong Kong conglomerate that fell in the 1980s due to fraud and corruption, and caused a global scandal.

The Carrian Group case had been featured several times in the past, including as one of the episodes of the show "Crime Investigation Asia" under the title, "The Banker Who Knew Too Much", and the 2020 TVB drama, "Of Greed and Ants".
