‘Fantastic Beasts’ Trailer: A Few Lessons From The Wizarding Community Of New York

Warner Bros has conjured up the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the next big-screen take on the Wizarding World created by JK Rowling. The David Yates-directed pic is due out November 18 with Eddie Redmayne as preeminent “magizoologist” Newt Scamander. When he stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures, a whole host of havoc is wreaked on the city. Check out the latest look above.

Warners has also announced a global fan event which will be streamed on Fantastic Beasts‘ Facebook page and run in select theaters (including Imax) around the world on October 13. During the event, the cast will hold a live Q&A and show new footage from the upcoming film (check out a cast greeting below).

Fantastic Beasts opens in 1926 as Newt arrives in New York for a brief stopover. But the trip turns into something else altogether thanks to a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s titular beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Also starring are Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell.

Anticipation is high for the Harry Potter series spinoff, aided by Potter mania’s current fever pitch, partly thanks to the glowingly reviewed, sold-out London stage play, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. (It was also evident at Universal Hollywood’s Harry Potter And The Wizarding World attraction this past Saturday where cosplaying fans turned up in droves, sporting wizard robes despite 95° heat.)

A Fantastic Beasts sequel is lined up for release on November 16, 2018 with Yates again directing and Rowling penning the script. Producers are David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
