Ben and Erin Napier often spotlight the crafts their daughters make, and the latest creation may just start a tiny holiday decor trend. It’s a small drawing of a Christmas scene, which their daughter Helen made to fit into a little gold frame made by Ben’s brother.
Ben shared a video of the mini festive decor on Instagram. “My brother is making these really tiny frames with scraps of ornate moldings,” he wrote in the caption. “They’re all $20 and some will fit the small instax style photos. The moment Helen saw it on the kitchen counter, she started a little drawing for it. She knew the assignment.”
The micro drawing features a Christmas tree with a garland overhead, a present nearby, and a flickering fireplace. It’s housed in a thick, gold square frame that’s proudly hung on a thin wall near a door frame. Ben’s brother Jesse Napier of Napier Frames created the frame as well as a handful of other tiny frames in various colors, shapes, and sizes to reduce waste in the custom framing and art gallery shop he runs with his wife Lauren in Laurel, Mississippi.
Fans are obsessing over the concept in the comments section of Ben’s video. “There is something inherently cool about an overly elaborate large frame with a small picture in it,” one fan wrote.
Others were impressed with Helen's drawing and asked if she takes commissions. One person wrote, “Can I order one with an original Helen drawing?!”
“Big masterpiece in a tiny frame! Go Helen,” another commented.
Many, many commenters inquired about buying the tiny frames through the shop’s website. Although they are not currently available for online purchase, these frames are an excellent source of inspiration. Whether you have leftover molding from a home project or decide to buy some for a DIY project, creating your own is simple. Just add a festive drawing, or if you're not artistically inclined, you can print or cut out something from a book or magazine. This conversation piece is a perfect way to add a touch of festive decor to your home, and you can easily swap it out as the seasons change!
