Fanny Wang performs at concert despite SLE

27 Jul - Despite suffering from lupus, veteran singer Fanny Wang (also known as Fanny Kaoru) decided to perform at renowned lyricist Jimmy Lo's concert held at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

As reported on Mingpao News, the 60-year-old singer, who looked stunning in her blue dress, admitted that she nearly rejected the offer due to her condition.

"I have been suffering from LSE for the past eight years, and it's the kind of disease that is difficult to control," she said.

Fanny stated that the disease causes her face to swell and bruise with rashes, and that she was ashamed by her condition.

"But I remember saying to myself that as long as it involves Jimmy, I will give my full support," she said.

Fanny said that she had a lot of frustrations since diagnosed with the condition, but that she was inspired by Jimmy, who still enjoys himself despite being wheelchair-bound.

Among other stars who performed that night were Gallen Lo, Amy Chan, Johnnie Yip and Connie Mak.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), also known simply as lupus, is a chronic and often disabling autoimmune disease. Its symptoms include joint pain, skin rash, fever, extreme fatigue, weight loss, and chest pain.
