Fang Zhengang apologises to Highlight and Wilber Pan

17 Aug - Fang Zhengang, the producer and co-composer of Wilber Pan's controversial song, "Insomnia", recently posted his own statement online regarding the issue of plagiarism.

As reported on Sohu, Fang, who published the statement on his social media account, stated that he has always been a fan of the K-pop group BEAST/Highlight and that he often listens to their songs.

Fang reasoned that he might have unintentionally used the same tune from his memory after watching the show, "Showtime: Burning the Beast" - where group member Yong Jun-hyung first shared a recording of the song.

The composer also apologised to Wilber, and helped clear the singer from all guilt by saying that the latter's involvement in the making of the song is only in writing the lyrics.

Expressing his gratitude to Wilber for giving him the chance to include his song in the singer's new album, Fang added that he will take sole responsibility for any legal action that may be taken by Yong Jun-hyung's side.

While Yong and his agency accepted the apology, Netizens are not as forgiving, and stated that this is not the first time Fang is accused of plagiarism.
