Fan Bingbing's new movie "Air Strike" cancels China release

22 Oct – After much speculations, it was revealed that the Fan Bingbing-starrer, "Air Strike" (also known as "Unbreakable Spirit") will not be released in China.

As reported on On CC, the news was announced by the movie director Xiao Feng, who posted an apology on Weibo, saying it is time for him to let go of the project after eight years of work.

The World War 2 thriller, which had a budget of RMB 700 million, stars international actors like Bruce Willis, Adrien Brody, Liu Ye, Nicholas Tse, William Chan, and Song Seung-Heon.

It was one of the highly-anticipated films this year, initially scheduled to be released on 24 October.

However, the fate of the film hung in balance following Fan Bingbing's tax evasion scandal.

On the other hand, despite its cancellation in China, it was reported that its American distributor Lionsgate still has plans to release the movie in the United States.
