Famous Pek Kio prawn noodle stall Wah Kee opens Esplanade restaurant

Popular Pek Kio hawker stall Wah Kee Big Prawn Noodle launched its second outlet at Esplanade on Friday (2 December). The restaurant is a partnership between Wah Kee and Mr Andrew Tan, 55, a restaurateur who has helped launch many restaurants, both locally and worldwide.

Founded in 1951, Wah Kee has amassed many fans along the way, including Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-Fatt, and is popular for the gigantic prawns that it uses with its noodles. The mee kia is made specially for Wah Kee, with all sauces made in-house daily using Wah Kee’s 65-year-old recipes.

Although the new location is upscale, menu prices remain relatively similar, with only slight increases.

New dishes that will be served exclusively at the Esplanade outlet include Boston lobster, French rojak salad and Wah Kee’s Style Seafood Oyster Omelette. The restaurant will also be serving other seafood items along with a range of wines.
