Faizal Tahir elated to have G.E.M. releasing her version of "X Missing You"

30 Dec - It was a great success for the team of Faizal Tahir's Faithful Publishing, which recently had the singer-songwriter's hit song, "X Missing You" being adapted to Mandarin for Hong Kong superstar, G.E.M. aka Gloria Tang.

Publishing Director Karim Karam, who spoke about the collaboration, stated that it took them five months to negotiate on the deal.

"This is just a small step in Faithful Publishing's effort in increasing the export of local songs to the international market. In today's digital world, songwriters and publishing companies must have a broader perspective for their creations to be able to compete globally," he said.

As for Faizal, he never thought that his song will be performed by such an internationally recognised name.

"Alhamdulillah, as a composer and producer we definitely want listeners to accept our songs well. But to be sung by singers from abroad is not something I expected. So of course, I accepted well and was excited about this offer from the beginning it was told to me," he said.

For the record, G.E.M. released her version of the song, retitled "I'll Be Missing You" on 21 December, with the single already ranked number three in China and on the YouTube trending chart in Taiwan and 18 in Hong Kong.

The original song, composed by Faizal Tahir, Ja'a, Mage, Mike Chan, Tuju and Yonnyboii, was released last year and performed by Faizal himself, songstress Dayang Nurfaizah, K-Clique's Tuju and young rapper-songwriter, Yonnyboii.
