Faith-Based Drama ‘Believe’ Launching Smith Global Media (EXCLUSIVE)

In the latest entry in the faith-based market, Smith Global Media and Power of 3 Entertainment are teaming up for a Dec. 2 release of the family drama “Believe” in about 600 U.S. locations.

Harry Smith, Will Smith’s younger brother, heads Smith Global Media in partnership with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE), with creative and infrastructure support provided by Overbrook Entertainment. Smith said the company will focus on projects with budgets in the $5 million range.

The film centers on the annual Christmas pageant in a small Virginia town, where the automotive business backing that pageant has been hit by financial hardships. The owner is forced to choose between selling the family business and canceling the beloved pageant or sticking out hardships despite his rapidly declining popularity in the community — when he meets a boy who believes in miracles.

“I picked ‘Believe’ as our first release because it’s a great way to set a tone for what our company is about — filling the demand for top-quality family entertainment,” Smith told Variety.

The film is written, directed and produced by Billy Dickson and stars Ryan O’Quinn, Shawnee Smith, Danielle Nicolet, Kevin Sizemore, David DeLuise and Issac Ryan Brown.

Nelson Diaz, Jacob Patrick, Ben Holmes and Kevin Sizemore are also producing. Executive producers are Chuck Hobbs, Kevin Nicewonder, Tim Popadic, Mark Popadic, Billy Dickson and Ryan O’Quinn.

“I am delighted to team with Billy Dickson, Ryan O’Quinn, and the passionate team behind ‘Believe,’” said Smith. “We are extremely excited to bring wholesome family entertainment appealing to every genre, to audiences everywhere, this holiday season.”

Smith has worked with his brother in real estate and at Overbrook. Dickson’s credits include “One Tree Hill” and “Ally McBeal.” O’Quinn appeared in “Dad Dudes” and “Alias.”

Power of 3 Entertainment was formed by Dickson, O’Quinn and Nelson Diaz as an entertainment production company.
