Do you wish to take photos and videos of marine life without having to dive into the waters? You can now do so thanks to a new underwater drone, which is available in Singapore.

Launched by Chinese robotics company PowerVision on Thursday (8 February), the PowerRay drone allows underwater photography enthusiasts to take photos and videos by controlling the drone with a smart controller, a mobile app or a virtual reality goggle.

The PowerRay is available in two models – the Explorer and the Wizard. The Explorer, which comes with a 50-metre cable and 32GB built-in memory, is priced at $2,599 while the Wizard, which has a 70-metre cable, 64GB built-in memory and a sonar-powered fishfinder, is priced at $3,599.

Weighing at 3.8kg each, the drone can fit easily in a regular backpack. The fully waterproof drone can submerge in as deep as 30 metres in fresh and salt water. It is robust enough to withstand very low water temperatures, which means you can take pictures of your ice fishing expedition in the Arctic.

Users can choose between fast, medium and slow for the PowerRay’s speed.

Both the Explorer and the Wizard are equipped with Ultra HD 95-degree wide-angle cameras, real-time 1080P transmission of images and videos, and a 5-image Fast Burst Shot with 12 megapixels. The drone supports video recording at 30 frames per second and 4K quality.

The two PowerRay models are available for purchase at all major electronics stores in Singapore.
