Most of us have already heard that famous Japanese cheese tart chain Pablo will be opening its first ever outlet in Singapore on 8 August.

Pablo is best known for its freshly baked cheese tart, which has a soft, custard-like cream cheese in a flaky crust. At the outlet in Wisma Atria mall, the signature item, which measures 15cm in diameter, costs $15 per piece while one slice costs $9.50 with coffee or tea.

For those who want to savour something different, the cheese tart also comes in chocolate and matcha flavours, at $18 per piece. Individual slices for these two flavours, however, are not available for sale because of their soft and runny textures.

If you are thinking of trying all three flavours, Pablo recommends that you start from the original cheese tart, followed by the chocolate and matcha flavours.

Other Pablo items include the classic cheese tart smoothie ($7.80), premium cheese tart (one slice for $7.50, whole piece $28), cheese soft serve ice cream ($3.90) and mini cheese tarts. For the latter, the chocolate and matcha versions, which are available in Japan, will be sold in Singapore at a later date.

The cheese soft serve ice cream is delightfully milky with a smooth taste, while the classic cheese tart smoothie is a refreshing, frothy version of Pablo’s signature item, with caramel crust (called ‘brisee’) drizzled on top.

To ensure that the standards in Pablo Japan are maintained in the Singapore outlet, local chefs had received training in Japan ahead of the launch next week. Likewise, the interior design of the outlet is similar to that at its Japanese counterparts, from the soft wood tones of the furniture down to the lighting.

Fans who have already tried the popular Pablo items in Japan will have reason to visit the Singapore outlet soon as the chain plans to introduce seasonal flavours here by the end of the year.
