Everything You Need To Know About Magnolia's New Headquarters
What happens in Waco certainly doesn't stay in Waco, seeing as though literally flocks of people are visiting the famous Magnolia Market at the Silos every day (averaging approximately 30,000 visitors per week) to take home just a little bit of Chip and Joanna Gaines's magic.
The Silos have a rich history, marking the duo's beginning, and the company's already thinking of its next chapter, Chip shared with the Waco Tribune-Herald. Here's everything you need to know about the projects they have in the works:
They may be relocating their headquarters.
If the team does decide to relocate, the new headquarters at the Grand Karem Shrine Building would be just five blocks away from the Silos. Maybe you're thinking, "But how does this affect me?" Well, let's just say your chances of bumping into the Fixer Upper pair during your trip to the Silos would be much greater. Currently, Chip shares that he and Jo visit Magnolia Market a couple times a week, move their HQ within a short walking distance and the chances of you bumping into them will be, well...much higher.
Its potential new headquarters is a 90-year-old building.
According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, the Grand Karem Shrine Building at 701 Washington Avenue in Downtown Waco, is a 90-year-old, three-story building "featuring a Moorish-style arched entry and ballroom large enough for hundreds."
The Tribune shares that Magnolia Vacation Rentals entered a contract to buy the building from McLennan County for $1.1 million back in July of this year. Though John Marsicano, the Magnolia spokesman, declined to answer questions about what the building would be used for, Chip Gaines has since offered some answers:
"We’re contemplating how to make it work as our new headquarters," he told the Tribune, adding, "We haven’t closed on the property, but we’re seriously considering it." Of course, moving the location of their current headquarters-which is "practically in the suburbs" near Bosque Boulevard and State Highway 6, Chip notes-closer to the Silos downtown would definitely be ideal.
Each of the grain silos might be turned into "something better."
Additionally, Chip reveals his hopes to repurpose the towering grain silos, so they are used in a more positive fashion. For him, he'll likely use one as his own store for men-an expansion of Chip's Corner, which can be found inside the market now-where they will sell "leather gloves, hammers, t-shirts, and other "guy-dominated stuff." Sadly, until they decide what to do with the second silo tower, they'll likely hold off on this project.
