Everyone Is Freaking Out Over This Video of an Insanely Huge Chicken
On March 19, a video surfaced on the internet, showing what appears to be an insanely large chicken emerging from a regular-sized coop.
At first you just see the head and you think, "Oh, what a big boy."
But then the rest of him comes out and you think, "Oh my goodness, what is this beautiful, unique creature?!"
You might be tempted to think that this is just a man in a chicken suit, but no.
Apparently, it's a Brahma chicken (or, in this case, rooster), a very large breed of chicken that was developed in the United States from enormous birds imported from Shanghai back in the 1850s.
According to the The American Livestock Breeds Conservatory, the Brahma hen can weigh up to 13-14 pounds, and a Brahma cock can get up to 18 pounds. As such, they are referred to as "King of All Poultry."
Apparently, the Brahma was generally considered the leading meat breed from the mid 1850s through about 1930, leading us to wonder if farmers back in those days were just used to walking around with giant chickens.

Either way, some people on the internet who don't know much about chickens were a little frightened to find out one this big exists.

As far as we're concerned, though, the bigger the chicken, the greater the hug!
