Everton are reportedly ‘known to be following’ Real Betis star Raul Garcia de Haro, as they continue their search for a new centre-forward.

The Toffees are currently in the midst of a second consecutive relegation battle. It’s fair to say their lack of a proven goal scorer has been their biggest issue, too.

Now, Sean Dyche has made signing a new striker his top transfer priority, regardless of what league Everton are in next season.

As it stands, the Merseyside club are in 17th place in the Premier League table, just one point outside the bottom three. This puts them in serious danger of relegation – for the first time since 1951.

As mentioned, scoring goals has been Everton’s biggest issue. So far, they have scored the third-least of any team in the division.

Indeed, their main striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured another injury-disrupted campaign. Also, summer signing Neal Maupay has scored just one goal in 26 league appearances.

Now, Everton have made bringing in a new centre-forward their transfer priority. Coventry’s Viktor Gyokeres and Almeria’s El Bilal Toure have been linked with the club recently, for example.

But now, a new name has emerged on Everton’s radar.

Everton ‘following’ Raul Garcia

Indeed, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo, Everton are ‘known to be following’ Garcia.

They add the Spaniard is the ‘man in fashion’ at the moment and could be one to watch in the summer market.

Garcia is currently on loan from Real Betis at Spanish second division club CD Mirandes. This season, the 22-year-old has scored an impressive 19 goals in 37 appearances, along with making seven assists.

As a result, he has ‘caught the attention’ of ‘several’ Premier League clubs. Brighton have also reportedly registered an interest in the striker, for example.

As per Estadio Deportivo, Garcia’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been tasked with finding the him a new club. Everton are yet to make a formal approach for Garcia, but it’s stated they could be convinced by Mendes.

However, it is worth noting that the Toffees’ transfer business will be affected by whether or not they survive relegation.

But, given Garcia is currently playing second-tier football in Spain, there’s a chance he could be convinced to join Everton, even if they’re playing in the Championship.

For now, though, the Toffees’ focus will be solely on their remaining two games against Wolves and Bournemouth, as they aim to preserve their Premier League status.
