ESG Leaders Honored at Event and at Times Square

This year’s Most Influential ESG Leaders were honored earlier this week by Berns Communications Group Retail Influencer Network and The Z Suite in collaboration with WWD. The accolade honors senior-level executives and Gen Z leaders who have shown an exceptional commitment to advocating for and advancing environmental, social and governance practices within the fashion, beauty, retail, technology and consumer goods sectors.

The honorees include leaders from E.l.f. Beauty, Gap Inc., Walmart Inc., Macy’s Inc. and Tapestry Inc., among many others. The Most Influential ESG Leaders were recognized during the 2023 Retail Influencer CEO Forum. The event featured The Z Suite, brand and retail leaders, and influencers who convened to connect with Gen Z consumers. The leaders were honored by appearing on the American Eagle Outfitters electronic billboard in Times Square on Sept. 14 as part of the retailer’s “Building a Better World journey.”

The forum’s central theme was how courageous leadership is paving the way for real change. Panels and speaking sessions covered breakthroughs in beauty and wellness, the state of Gen Z consumers, how AI is transforming the shopping experience, “Rewriting the Workforce Playbook,” and mental wellness and inclusivity, among others.

During the “Courageous Leadership” keynote, MSNBC’s Daniela Pierre-Bravo led Rebecca Minkoff to discuss her career journey from starting her own company to navigating the pandemic and fostering forward-thinking strategies.

The Gen Z cohort is one that Minkoff and her team have paid close attention to both as consumers and as employees. Her career advice to Gen Z is to look at the journey in the long term saying, “Your career is the one thing you don’t get to have added to your cart or show up five minutes later — it’s a long view.”
