Erik Matti says goodbye to "Darna" star Liza Soberano

15 Oct – Erik Matti recently bade his farewell to Liza Soberano, following the announcement that he will no longer helm the superhero movie, "Darna".

The director, who was working on the project for five years prior to his departure, shared a photo of him with Soberano, who was accompanied by manager Ogie Diaz, on Instagram, writing, "Thank you for this dinner. If there's anyone who deserves a proper goodbye, it's you, [Liza Soberano]."

"Hoping to work with you in the future. Now go fly and kick some [expletive] villain's ass!" he added.

Soberano also shared similar photo of them during dinner, writing, "Thank you so much for everything [Erik Matti]! This dinner really meant a lot to me. Still hoping for a future project with you."

Soberano was cast as the female comic superhero following the departure of actress Angel Locsin, who had to undergo physical therapy for her spinal injury.

Matti, whose departure was announced by ABS-CBN and Star Cinema last week, has been replaced by "Heneral Luna" director Jerrold Tarog.
