Eric Tsang happy to reunite TVB with HK major labels

25 Feb – Eric Tsang recently expressed happiness over his success in reuniting TVB with Hong Kong's three major labels; Universal, Warner and Sony Music.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor-turned-TVB Deputy General Manager of Variety and Music Programmes - who appeared at a press conference announcing the collaboration - stated that he is thankful to the music industry for their support and that as a Hong Kong TV station, TVB fully supports the "Music Sustainability" project.

"I have been friends with major record companies and I do think that we all need each other. Variety shows need singers, and singers also want to appear in these shows. Being open is a win-win situation," he said.

At the same time, he assured that singers of TVB's sister company Voice Entertainment will not be neglected, and that they will be able to cooperate with other labels to make good music.

Eric also announced that TVB will be adding more music programmes, with "JSG" having a format change and better time slot while "The Voice of Stars" will be making a comeback.

"I hope more record companies will participate to strengthen the line-up of mentors and judges and make the show more recognisable," he said about the latter.

Asked if good friend Alan Tam will be one of the judges, he smiled and jested, "He's not that popular anyway."

As to report that music producer Tang Chi Wai will be returning to cooperate with TVB, Eric stated that Tang is not the only one, as TVB is planning to cooperate with several different producers.
