Eric Bana To Star Opposite Forest Whitaker In Desmond Tutu Pic ‘The Forgiven’

EXCLUSIVE: Eric Bana has just signed on to The Forgiven, the adaptation of Michael Ashton’s play The Archbishop And The Antichrist about Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Forest Whitaker is already aboard to play Tutu, with Roland Joffé directing the script he co-wrote with Ashton.

The drama centers on Tutu’s work as president of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in post-apartheid South Africa, and his struggle with brutal murderer Piet Blomfeld (Bana) over concession and redemption.

Joffé is producing with Link Entertainment’s Craig Baumgarten and Zaheer Goodman-Bhyat of Light & Dark Films.

Bana is next up in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword. He’s repped by WME and Sloane Offer.
