Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is getting a new cast member.

Disney officially announced Thursday that Michelle Yeoh will be appearing in Marvel’s Shang-Chi, which stars Simu Liu as the classic comic-book martial artist. Yeoh’s casting also means that she’ll be reuniting with their Crazy Rich Asians costar Awkwafina, who was previously confirmed to star alongside Liu. Yeoh will be playing a character named Jiang Nan.

Filming on Shang-Chi was completed earlier this year, after production shut down briefly due to the coronavirus pandemic. Short Term 12’s Destin Daniel Cretton is directing from a script by David Callaham, and the film will mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction of Shang-Chi, an expert fighter and martial artist who made his comics debut in 1973, created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin.

Tony Leung will also star in the film as the Mandarin, the legendary Marvel villain who leads the terrorist organization the Ten Rings. (The Mandarin’s name first popped up in the MCU with 2013’s Iron Man 3, when Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery impersonated him.)

Shang-Chi will hit theaters July 9, 2021.
