English group Soft Cell announce farewell concert in September

Synth-pop duo Marc Almond and Dave Ball, known as Soft Cell, have announced a farewell reunion concert--their first in 15 years--in a one-off show.

The English vocalist/instrumentalist pair haven't performed together in over a decade; they are best known for their 1982 hit cover of Gloria Jones' track “Tainted Love.” The release of their debut album, "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret," was released in November 1981.

After their 1984 breakup, Almond launched a solo career, while Ball worked as a producer. Following a long hiatus as a duo, the pair reunited for a 2001 tour and studio album, the 2002 release "Cruelty Without Beauty."

Almond said in a press release: “It will be a real statement and send off, and thank you to every fan.”

The show will take place at London O2 on September 30, marking their 40th anniversary as a duo.
