Engagement announcements are taken pretty seriously these days, with many couples going the extra mile to get the perfect engagement picture.

But the drive to pull off a perfect post-proposal photo doesn’t always go according to plan.

Just ask soon-to-be-weds Alyssa Snodsmith and Collin Hewett.

As reported by BuzzFeed, the couple got engaged after Hewett popped the question back in August and wanted some nice engagement photos to share with their friends and family.

Having spotted a fun picture of a couple celebrating with champagne on Pinterest, they enlisted the help of their photographer friend Chandler Lefever, to try and emulate the shot.

The original picture was of a man pouring champagne effortlessly into the woman’s mouth, but, Alyssa and Collin’s version wasn’t quite so seamless after Collin misjudged the angle of the bottle and ended up pouring most of it over his bride-to-be.

At a friend’s suggestion the couple shared the resultant photo to Twitter, where it has unsurprisingly blown up with more than 447K people liking it and 50.4K comments from amused users.

Other couples even shared their own champagne photo fails.

Thankfully, Alyssa also saw the funny side responding to her fiancé’s tweet to reassure users she was fine and actually thought the whole thing was hilarious.

As illustrated by the above getting the perfect engagement picture or video can prove tricky as one grandpa discovered last year when he was charged with the job of recording a couple’s proposal.

Unfortunately for the 71-year-old grandfather, he managed to miss the magical moment after recording the entire thing in selfie mode.

Then there was the little boy who went viral after he upstaged mum’s proposal by peeing in background.

When Kevin Przytula, 33, proposed to his longterm girlfriend Allyssa Anter, 27, he was upstaged by Anter’s son, Owen who needed to pee.

In a video that blew up on the Internet Przytula can be seen popping the question while down on one knee at the exact moment the three-year-old pulls down his trousers behind him.

Some couples will go to pretty extreme lengths for the perfect proposal picture.

Last year a woman used her cousin's manicured hand in her engagement photos, because her own nails weren't done.
