‘Empire’ Sneak Peek: Hakeem Samples His Track for the Empire Movie and Andre’s Mind Plays Tricks on Him (Exclusive Video)
When “Empire” returns with the back-half of its sixth and final season next week, Hakeem has got the juice — and Andre has got a problem.
In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek of next week’s midseason premiere, which you can view above, Empire is getting ready to drop the trailer for the upcoming Empire movie, starring Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) as his father, Lucious Lyon. Andre (Trai Byers) tells the board the label is going to make an “event” out of the trailer launch, with a concert featuring a Hakeem and Tiana duet.
But, just as Hakeem gets up on the conference room table to perform a sample of the song he’s prepared for the Empire movie soundtrack — because of course he gets on the table — Andre’s head begins to play tricks on him, and he slowly zones out. Uh, needless to say, everyone looks a little worried about their fearless leader’s state of mind.

Here’s the official description for Episode 611, titled “Can’t Truss ‘Em,” the first episode of “Empire” to air since its winter finale on Dec. 17.
The Lyons’ world is turned upside down as they face a loss, which forces one Lyon to deal with an unresolved trauma from the past. Meanwhile, Andre makes an important decision about his health, family and career and Devon confronts Tiana about her relationship with Hakeem. Also, a shocking revelation about the future of the Lyons is revealed.
