*Warning: Spoilers ahead*
The streaming service announced the big news in January 2021, shortly after the premiere of the show's second season. And now, with the shocking reveal from the season three finale, fans are wondering what will happen to the characters in season four. Keep reading for details on the upcoming season, from the cast and plot to the release date.
1. What is Emily in Paris season 4 about?
At the end of season three, Gabriel and Camille’s wedding came to a screeching halt—thanks to Cami’s candid (but honest) remark. Rather than pretending that everything was fine, the bride announced to the congregation that Gabriel was in love with her best friend, Emily. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Alfie encouraged Emily to commit to him. Then came the shocking twist: Cami is pregnant.
After that major cliffhanger, season four will pick up right where season three left off. As for season spoilers, show creator Darren Star told TV Guide, "Season 4 is going to be more about navigating complicated relationships; personal relationships and work relationships, and how they come into conflict with each other…Emily is still going to be working with Alfie, Gabriel and Camille. Those work relationships are really fraught with emotional conflicts."
2. Who will be in the cast of Emily in Paris season 4?
Naturally, Lily Collins will reprise her role as the fashionable Emily. The rest of the main cast will likely return, including Ashley Park (Mindy), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Camille Razat (Camille), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Samuel Arnold (Julien) and Bruno Gouery (Luc).
Season four may introduce a few new characters as well, since season three included its fair share of newcomers.
3. Is there a premiere date for Emily in Paris season 4?
Although Netflix hasn't confirmed a premiere date, we’re predicting that new episodes will drop on the streaming platform towards the end of 2023.
4. Is there a trailer?
Production for season four is still underway, so no, there’s no trailer just yet. However, the cast started filming in September, so fans can probably expect to see a trailer sooner rather than later.
5. Has filming started?
In September 2022, Variety reported that the fourth season was already filming in France. And given that the previous seasons were released a year apart from each other—season one dropped in October 2020, season two in December 2021 and season three in December 2022—we get the feeling that Netflix will follow the same pattern for season four.
6. Will Emily in Paris return for season 5?
Season five hasn’t been confirmed, but Darren Star told Deadline that he’s totally down to continue the story after the fourth season.
He said, “I definitely think the show has a life beyond next season. It’s not necessarily conceived as a final chapter. I think like every other show, it’s a rich ensemble. There’s no end in sight until everybody feels like it’s time to end.”
Star continued, “I don’t think this show is limited by a number of seasons, I think it’s limited by everybody’s enthusiasm and excitement about doing it and telling stories about these characters because I think the world, especially after season three, the universe of the show is expanded because we have such a fantastic ensemble of characters and the show, it’s Emily In Paris, but I think it’s moved beyond just Emily in Paris, which is exciting.”
Fingers crossed we get a fifth season!
