Emily Blunt, AKA soon-to-be the practically perfect in every way Mary Poppins of our dreams, sat down with People to talk about her take on the iconic role.

“Really this is my version of her,” she said in the interview. “I did not watch the original during the process of making it. I had seen it as a kid but I didn’t watch the details of it all because I had to do my version of her.”

“My perception of her in the books is that she is batty, eccentric, hilarious and incredibly rude and vain,” she added. “I like that idea that she sweeps in and takes it all over and makes everything great.”

Emily jumped into preparing for the role right after she finished filming A Quiet Place, a *terrifying* thriller she starred in with husband John Krasinski. She shared that it was a nice change up after having to be frightened out of her gourd every day.

(Those are not her exact words, but holy shit, that movie was SO SCARY.) (And good!) (Watch the trailer below and attempt to not pee and poop your pants. GOOD LUCK.)

TERRIFYING, right??

Anyway, the 35-year-old actress said filming the new Mary Poppins was just "joyous," and I can't wait to see it!

Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters on Dec 25.
